Police want to move you away from people sometimes it is advantageous to not let them without them explicitly giving you an order.
They took the sign, have a whiteboard to write what is happening. The pigs are scared of people seeing what they are doing.

Backup signs
Stencils to make new signs
Microphone and speaker so people hear the pigs when they whisper
